About the Study

The Lundquist Institute and UCLA Health, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and AstraZeneca, stopped recruiting volunteers to conduct a research study on a COVID-19 vaccine in December 2020. The study was developed by Oxford University and AstraZenaca.

Our study has concluded the last step in testing prior to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Approval. If the findings show the vaccine is effective, it will be licensed and developed for widespread use to prevent illness resulting from COVID-19.

Study volunteers will not contract COVID-19 from the vaccine, as the vaccine does not contain the live COVID-19 virus.
